Caitlyn... another great SL+P Senior (Senior Portrait Photography)

Riverdale High School seems to be home base for me this year. Although I’ve shot seniors from at least 5 other local schools, Riverdale currently seems to be my go-to school.

It’s cool… as are the seniors there.

Caitlyn found out about me through two other friends and gave me a call to set up a session. I am so glad she did… because she was a ton of fun during the session. She’s also relaxed and a “natural” in front of the camera. Her mom and little sister (who was a RIOT!) came along as well as we traipsed all over downtown Murfreesboro.

One thing that sticks out to me from this session is the variety of new looks we achieved… in part due to Caitlyn. I’ve been trying really hard to find new angles on old locations… as well as to just find some new locations. REALLY pleased with this session.

I’ll let the pics speak for themselves. Fantastic job Caitlyn!

Megan and Jason (Wedding Photography)

What fun… Megan and Jason.

Sports nuts. Amazingly cute together. Easy going. Made for each other.

(Megan can throw a mean football, lol!)

This is going to be a pretty long post as Megan’s wedding is one of only two weddings I shot for myself this year as I’m shooting weddings for another studio in Nashville in order to concentrate SL+P on portraits and commercial work… so I’m also including some shots from her bridal session and their e-session. Linda’s is the other wedding and I’m going to blog it later this week.

Some days everything seems perfect. What could have been a sweltering Tennessee summer day turned into a breezy, puffy-cloud, not-so-hot, partial shade day. Perfect. No rain… no extreme heat… and great skies to shoot under. BIG wedding party full of beautiful friends of both Megan and Jason, all adorned in really stunning attire… and Megan’s dress, WOW.

Lots of pics… so I’ll get to it. Thanks Megan and Jason!

Jack, Alex, Christine, & John (Family Portraits)

Well… it’s two years running for this crew. I look forward to years in the future when we have a huge body of work from them alone.

Jack and Alex are some amazing boys. So different in temperament (aren’t all our kids that way?), yet totally fun loving and attached at the hip. It’s always fun shooting them as Christine and John just let me go wild with them. I get up in their play-fort, chase them around the yard, wrestle, you name it. All while snapping away.

And you should see mom and dad cringe every time I let the boys come over and trip the shutter! Strangely enough, during one of those times when I was aiming the camera and one of the boys was pushing the shutter button, we got a great shot of dad. So funny.

In the end, a really great session… if not a tad hot and mosquito laden, lol.

Feast your eyes on this beautiful family

(not so!) Little Cole @ 8-Months (Murfreesboro Baby Photography)

Cole’s now 8 Months Old… sheesh, time flies!

I swear that Cole’s family gets more and more beautiful everytime we shoot. I am so lucky to have a family like them as clients. They’re easy going, fun to be around, and they let me do my thing as an artist. They have a horse-of-a-dog named Bach (my favorite composer), and Cole might have the bluest, glassiest eyes of any baby I’ve ever photographed. So Cute! I shoot with some pretty intimidating equipment sometimes… big cameras and high-end lenses… and they let me shoot up close, far away, on my belly, on a ladder… whatever.

And it shows in the photographs. It also shows on my body today (we shot yesterday)… in that I’m covered head-to-toe with chigger bites from laying flat on my tummy in the middle of a large field while shooting. Anything for the shot, right?

(itchy week ahead)

A side note… these were all shot on a 25 Megapixel Sony A900 DSLR with AF-lenses designed and produced by Carl Zeiss. Sony is a new player in the professional photography, but I suspect they’ll be a giant in a few years. I get astounding photographs from this new equipment and have a blog post coming up featuring what it can do.

Anyhow, take a look at what can be accomplished in a few hours’ time. I generally do not take multiple shots of just one or two poses and I treat every Baby-First-Year session as a “Family First Year” session, as I believe it’s the family as a whole that goes through all these changes. So we get out and dig into it. Cole’s family (and Cole himself) are real troopers and consequently these are some of my favorite baby photos I’ve taken to this point (along with Gracie’s). They are, indeed, a lovely family.

Cheers!!! Shelby

Mallory: SLP 2009 Senior Season Continues (Senior Portrait Photography)

What a fun-loving young lady!

Mallory drove in from Lewisburg to get something “… different than all my classmates back in Lewisburg”. I think we succeeded! With a ton of outfit changes and many, many locations over the course of our three hour session, we got a wide range of shots from fashionable… to cute… to serious… to just plain fun.

James, her beaux, came along and sweated alongside me as an able assistant… holding reflectors and helping me haul gear around during the session. It was hot, but Mallory rocked it anyway. BTW, seniors, if you’re worried about the heat and “wilting”… don’t. I make sure to seek shade as much as possible. And even if we get a little too hot, I know how to retouch your images so that no one could ever tell we were all melting in the ever-so-pleasant Tennessee summers (lol!)

We’ll enough talk… check out what Mallory did in front of the camera. I’ll say it again. You rocked it girl.

Cheers!!! Shelby
